You have a kitchen or bath remodeling project. You need a flooring expert, a finish carpenter, a plumber, and an electrician for the job, and you hire them yourself.

• The electrician just shows up one day, does a bit of work, and leaves without telling you when he’s coming back or how far he’s gotten. And that happens over and over again.

• The finish carpenter returns your first couple of phone calls, but after he’s gotten your first check, you can’t seem to get a hold of him.

• The plumber blames his slow service on the electrician, the finish carpenter, on anyone he can, regardless of how ridiculous his excuses get as time drags on.

• The flooring guy is not available when you need him because everyone else’s problems interfered with his calendar, and now he’s off to another job, with no idea when he’ll be available for you again.
